Not a very productive day

Oh, oh.  We better not have too many days like this before we leave.  Teresa and I have a custom for our days off.  We prepare the coffee maker the night before. The first one to wake up, stumbles into the kitchen, turns on the coffee maker, then cuddles back into bed. Yes, our coffee machine is programmable, but on weekends and days off, we never know when we will awake !

When we can hear our favorite brew is done, we prop ourselves up in bed with our pillows, and talk and dream for about an hour.

We have done this for years !!

Today, we got up at decent hour, but just couldn't get in gear.  I think it is because of all the emotional stuff we are going through.

Later, in the afternoon, Teresa said she felt like a nap, and my head was nodding in agreement.  But instead of just a 20 minute cat nap, we were out for an hour !!

Then my bride requested a coffee from Tim's.  Teresa LOVES her Timmies, so to deny her would have been dangerous.

And that folks, is how you waste a day away !!

Coffee party for Trent

Well, anyone that knows me, knows I hate the spotlight.  So, when my office staff asked what I wanted for a retirement party, I told them the smaller the better !

And I am happy to report it was small.  For our afternoon coffee break, we had cake, juice and tea. Just some informal presentations and a quick little thanks by me, and it was time to eat cake.

I had asked for a gift certificate to our local sporting good shop, but I was completely shocked by how generous my co-workers were. Very much appreciated and I am going to use the funds to buy a GPS unit, suitable for Geocaching. ( Can anyone recommend a good handheld GPS for newbies )

Tomorrow is our scheduled day off, so that means only 5 more days of work.

Teresa is out for supper again tonight. When these three girls go out, they usually kick it up a notch, and Teresa comes home with all sorts of stories of laughter, and fun !!

Departure Date

Our planned departure date is Oct 15th.  My heart is pounding just typing  that in.  We cannot believe how quickly the time is flying by.

Our last day of work is Oct 7th.  For me, we are calling it a retirement, but for Teresa, she is resigning, since she is still a little a lot shy of 50.

Of course our emotions are through the roof !!  How do you say good-bye to friends that you have worked with for over 20 years !!
,

Tomorrow is my little coffee party at work,  Friday is my day off, then only one more week.  Teresa is a social butterfly, and is going out for lunches and suppers with friends from work and home.

Whew, I sure will be glad when the big wheels get rolling, and we can start relaxing !!

The Planned Route

First of all, I would like to extend a sincere Welcome and Thank you to all the folks that have left such encouraging comments, and an especially huge Thank you to those brave folks that have agreed to go along for the ride with us, by becoming Followers !!

Now, although we are new to travelling, I have been reading about RV travel for years. As you can imagine, I now have a list that is very long, of places we want to see.

But, one piece of advice that experienced RV'ers always give is, don't try to see everything at once the first year.  So, heeding that advice, we have devised a route that we think will be fun, yet not too demanding either.

And of course, we want to leave our options open, so that we can stay or leave an area, if our hearts so desire.

This year we have decided to spend most of our time in Texas and Arizona, and maybe a brief visit to Palm Springs area in S. Cal.

Oh, ya, and Vegas for sure !!

If we start to feel cranky from always being on the go, then I will simply put the rig in park, extend the awning, and pour us a glass of wine.

By then our winter will be over, and we will anxiously get back to our condo, to see how our Watchdogs have made out.

Our " Wheel " - Estate

How does the idea of living in a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, house sound?   Now imagine if that house was only 200 sq. ft. !!

Actually, we LOVE our little motorhome.  We were fortunate enough to purchase her from Froggi Donna  Now, if you are at all familiar with any RV forums, you will know Donna.  She is very active on many sites, and is an excellent writer.

Not only did Donna take great care of our rig, but she also added  many upgrades to fulltime in.  We have the best solar powered system that we have seen.  470 watts of solar panels, 6 AGM batteries, and a 2000 watt Pure-Sine wave inverter.  This means we can watch TV, have the lights on, make a pot of coffee, and even use the microwave, without being plugged in !!

We also have levelling jacks, back-up monitor, powered entry steps, laminate flooring, walk around bed, and really, everything that the big rigs have.

Now, we are not saying that we will never move up to a larger rig, but for now, we are very content.  Our small size will allow us to get into virtually any campground, and we can even venture off the beaten path, without fear of getting stuck.

Like they say "Our house may be small.....but you should see our back yard !!"

Great...Just what the World needs.....another Blog !!

Yes, we agree there are a gazillion blogs out there.  But ours will be special......to us !!

You see, that is the main reason for us to have a blog, so that all our friends and family, can follow along with us, and know that we are safe and sound.  Hopefully, that will reduce some of our cell phone expenses as well !!

We also thought of 3 other reasons to start a Blog

1.   Our memories are not what they used to be, and this way we will have our own record of our travels, complete with photos.

2. Teresa and I are complete newbies when it comes to travel.  We are hoping that folks will provide us with some advice of what to see, where to eat, where to stay, etc.  Plus, fellow RV'ers can look us up when we are in the same neck of the woods.

3.  Ummm ... darn....I forget what point number three was.         ( please see point #1 )

And now, a word from our Sponsors

Hello, and welcome everyone !!

We are Trent and Teresa, and we are starting a new chapter of our lives. After many years of enduring cold Prairie winters, we are ready to try out the "snowbird" thing !!

I figure it will take a few months for us to thaw out, after being frozen for nearly 50 years...

We live in Saskatchewan, and are proud to call Regina our home. We have sold our house and downsized into a new condo, to make snowbirding a little easier.

Our two adult children are busy building their own lives, so now it is our turn. We have been blessed with a beautiful Granddaughter, which means leaving for the winter months will be a little difficult emotionally.

Our very first adventure starts in only a few weeks, so hang on tight !!
