Shopping with my Gift Card

It sure is a ton of fun to go shopping with a Gift Card in your back pocket.  As you may recall, my most generous co-workers gave me a gift card to Wholesale Sports.  So, with card in hand, I eagerly went on my way.

I really like this store !  They have everything you need for camping and hiking. Right away I spotted a pair of hiking boots, that I had wanted, on for 1/2 price.  Cha-ching, in my cart they went. Next up, a decent back pack.  After trying quite a few different styles, I kept returning to one particular pack, but I thought the $150.00 price tag was a little too high.  When I voiced my concern to the very helpful clerk, he told me they were on sale for 50% off.  Yes, cha-ching !!

The clerk asked me if I had hiking socks.  Huh ?? You mean you need special socks ??  He explained about how they wick the moisture away, and can make or break a nice hike.  Well, I sure don't want any blisters, and I sure don't want stinky feet, so I bought a pair for me and Teresa.

I had just enough left on my card to grab a couple of cans of green tea.  While the store manager was ringing in my sale, I casually asked him about working part time next summer.  You bet... he gave me his card, and said they are looking for "seasoned" folks like me.

As I was driving away, it occurred to me that I could easily spend my pay cheques right at the store.  Hmmm...Maybe a job at a ladies shoe store would be safer !!

  1. Sounds like fun spending a gift card, but you wanna "work" next summer? That word does not fit well in our vocabulary anymore, much too busy. good luck and enjoy.

  2. You don't want to make too many commitments for retirement. You may find you don't have time for part time "work".

  6. Didn't realize you guys started up a blog. Now I have another one to add to my list of too many already. I will try to keep up but it is hard while we are on the road. Sounds like you got a good haul with that gift card. Always funny spending money that wasn't yours to begin with.
